Harvest Monday, 18th June 2012

Hi there! It's been 2 months since I updated this blog. My apple tree was filled with flowers in Spring and they have produced lots of apples. The tree is 2.5 years old and it's of Golden Dorsett variety. We have been steadily harvesting apples for the past few weeks. Some of the apples were eaten by birds/bugs and I feel very sad for throwing them away. I am making milk shakes and it tastes divine on a hot day!
Here is the lettuce I harvested last week, tastes so good in salad.
Thanks to Daphne's Dandelions for hosting Harvest Monday!

Amaryllis blooms

The Amaryllis bulbs are all blooming for the 4th time in 2 years. They make lovely cut flowers. I thought these would bloom only in winter, so was a little surprised. All 10 bulbs have put out a beautiful show.

Harvest Monday - Mar 26th

The tomato plants have toppled over and there are fruits hidden beneath them. I managed to find quite a bit and some of them were already eaten by birds and worms.

I loves these flowers, they bloom all year:

March Updates

It's been some time since I updated this space. Not much happening in the garden front. The tomatoes are still producing. I will be pulling out the plants soon to prepare for the next season. The Amaryllis plants are producing buds and have started blooming. Look how pretty they are!

Gladioli have started sprouting from the ground. I left the corms in the ground last year. I didn't expect them now but the unusual warm weather in SoCal must have helped them come up.

Lots of cleaning in store and preparing for summer!

Tomato harvest 2/13/12

My tomato plants are still hanging in there, about 50 tomatoes harvested last week. I really want to clean the area and prepare for the next season. I will wait till the end of Feb for the green tomatoes to ripen and then start the cleaning process.

Tomatoes in Winter

I think my tomato plants are still hanging onto summer, look at the harvest I got on Friday. A couple of plants died but the rest are producing new flowers. The weather was warm for the past week in SoCal, I still have about 20-30 tomatoes slowly ripening.

My one and only pumpkin harvest. I cooked it in the oven, removed the pulp and stored in the refrigerator, will be making pumpkin soup soon.
